April ‘21 Newsletter
The flowers are blooming, the trees are budding, the weather has finally warmed up, and many people have gotten vaccinated. There’s hope! It’s wonderful to feel some optimism, although we’re not out of the woods yet, what with the number of Covid cases showing variants of Covid 19. Please continue to wear masks, wash hands and stay away from crowds.
As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter, I have joined a community of collaborators. We support each other by offering opportunities to speak on each other’s podcasts, summits or stages, promoting each other’s programs and referring people to each other. I’ve included information below on an upcoming virtual event that will give you a taste of the value of joining a collaborative community. I’ll be attending that as well, and would love to see you there.
1. Fastrack Your Book: Write Your Book in Six Weeks!
Do you have difficulty finding the time to write your book because your work keeps getting in the way?
Are you uncertain about the best topic for your book?
Are you concerned with whether your book will be good enough, that you are wasting your time writing a book that others won’t read or like?
I have developed a new program to help business owners and professionals choose the right topic and get their book written in just six weeks. If you are serious about getting your book done and would like more information, contact me at judy@skillbites.net. I’ll be happy to share information about the program with you.
2. Collaborate!
I’d like to invite you to join me at a special live (virtual) event where you’ll discover the art and science of joint ventures. This is a strategy that can work for you even if you don’t have a big list, a hot product, or currently know any of the big names in your niche.

If you’d like to get a ton of people to see your stuff, lots of new leads, and a bunch of partners willing to promote your offerings, all with no upfront expense, then this event, called JVology LIVE, will be for you.
If the dates for this event don’t work for you, but you are interested in exploring the world of joint ventures, let me know. I’ll send you the information on other events. There’s one coming up on May 13-15 as well, from a different JV community that I also belong to.

5. Tip of the Month: Three Ideas for Leveraging Your Book
Most business owners are writing a book to help them grow their business. Selling copies provides passive income, but the royalties from book sales is not a primary objective. That’s good, because business books generally don’t sell tons of copies. The value for business owners in publishing a book comes more from the credibility that the book provides, the prospects that come to the author as a result of the book and other opportunities such as speaking engagements and media interviews.
One of the best ways to leverage your book is to send free copies to your prospects, customers, colleagues, joint venture partners and others whose network or target market could benefit from the information you share in your book. One of SkillBites’ clients, Dr. John Anderson, used this tactic and attributes over 40 new clients in his chiropractic practice that came from the books he gave away. If you provide a free copy of your book, the recipient is generally eager to reciprocate by providing you with something valuable, such as retaining you for your services or providing a referral or a testimonial. So the more people you give your book to who would appreciate the information you share in your book, the more value you will get back.
You can also do a free book campaign to get your book out to more people. Amazon’s Kindle Select program allows you to do a free eBook campaign, which does not cost you anything; or you can do a free eBook or paperback book campaign on Goodreads. For the paperback, you’ll need to buy the paperback books you are giving away plus pay for the shipping of those books to the recipients. Giveaways are a great way to build awareness of your book and get early reviews. You’ll want to send information about your free book campaign to the numerous websites that promote such campaigns, to spread the word as widely as possible.
A third idea is to give away a chapter of your book as an opt-in on your website. Not only will you be promoting the fact that you are a published author, you’ll be able to generate new leads from your book, as people who want the free chapter will provide you with their names and email addresses.
If you’d like any help implementing any of these ideas, let me know.
What ways have you leveraged your book, or seen others leverage their books? Send me those strategies so I can share them with the SkillBites community.
